Insurance coverage

If you have a FSA or Flexible Savings Account alternative healing techniques including Reiki, Yoga and Mindfulness Meditation are eligible for reimbursement.  Below are some excerpts from The FSA Store:

Alternative healer reimbursement is eligible with a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) from a physician with a flexible spending account (FSA), health savings account (HSA) or a health reimbursement arrangement (HRA). Alternative healer reimbursement is not eligible with a limited care flexible spending account (LCFSA) or a dependent care flexible spending account (DCFSA).

When is alternative healer reimbursement eligible?

The disciplines that are embraced by alternative healers are not always thought of as legitimate by mainstream physicians, but if one of these treatments could prove useful in a treatment plan for a specific medical condition, a physician can produce a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) for FSA, HSA or HRA reimbursement. This letter must outline how alternative healers will be used to alleviate the issue and how long their treatments will last. If these treatments will last longer than the current plan year, another LMN will have to be provided to the benefits administrator to cover the duration of the treatment.

Healing Happens

Healing happens on many levels.  Mind, body and spirit.  Many of us seek healing of our physical body.  If you stub your toe, or get a sunburn, or a paper cut for example these are logically part of your physical body.   Some symptoms and illnesses begin in the emotional, mental and spiritual plane.  You hear a lot about how stress can cause physical illness.  It is a scientific fact.  Stress is a symptom which begins in the emotional or mental body and manifests itself into physical illness.  Wouldn’t it make sense to prevent these physical manifestations?  It is of course possible.  Reiki relieves the symptoms of stress and brings balance to the energy of the emotional, mental and spiritual body.  With regular Reiki treatments you give yourself the opportunity to heal. Healing happens with your participation.  I am here to help facilitate your happening.  Let’s talk.

How Does Reiki Work

I often am asked what Reiki is and how does it work.  It is not easy to describe for me.  You will see many books and articles written about what Reiki is and how it works.  I can repeat to you what has already been written and what has already been said.  The best way for you to know what Reiki is and how it works is for you to experience it.  Some of my best explanations of what Reiki is and how it works have actually come from my clients.  Countless times after experiencing Reiki for the very first time my clients tell me all about what they felt.  The best descriptions come from their own sessions.  They tell me all about how Reiki worked for them.  I love it.  I really get my best information about Reiki from their first hand accounts.  My clients become the best experts on what Reiki is and how it works.  I am always amazed and in awe at what Reiki is and how it works.  Not from my schooling, books, articles, or internet websites…but from the client who comes to me for a session.

VooDoo, Woo Woo, Nonsense?

Reiki may seem strange to you, maybe like voodoo or woo woo or nonsense, but really it just means Universal life force.  Every thing has energy.  Some times we feel like we have a lot of energy and other times we feel completely drained.  This is not our imagination.  We even speak of people as energizing or draining.  Just walking into a large group you can sense the energy and it may feel great or it may make you turn around and get out as quickly as possible.  This is all energy.

I can help you bring balance and tranquility back to your mind, body and spirit with a Reiki session.  Try it and have that ah ha moment.  Call me to schedule an appointment to improve your peace, balance and tranquility.

Quick Fix

Reiki is not always the quick fix.  Like most everything else in life we expect the quick fix.   Is anything really a quick fix?

As my practice continues to grow I still amaze at the progress of clients.  Some can have one session and have a “break through”.   Those clients were just on the precipice and “ready” for release.  Just yesterday afternoon I had three clients.  The first one was “blown away”, saw visions of his mom.  Later in the session he had an emotional release of trauma still being held in his body.  These types of releases are not unusual in a Reiki session.  The next two were full of expectation.

If you expect this kind of ah-ha  moment from the first session and don’t receive it, please don’t be discouraged.  It may be one session it may be multiple sessions.  You can be sure that Reiki is a gentle and loving flow of energy to benefit you in your own personal journey.

It is best to come to Reiki with no expectation.  Allow the energy to flow through you without the obstruction of expectations.  It will work expectation or not…but from personal experience if you over think instead of receive you miss out on the experience.  Stay present and be patient.  Allow the Reiki energy to relax, balance and release any chronic or acute condition you may be facing.  All on your time schedule and for your highest good.

Just for today.

15 minutes of Reiki

It never ceases to amaze me how 15 minutes can make someone a believer in Reiki.  Once a month I share the gift of Reiki to the public at The Southwest Institute of Healing Arts.  Let me share two examples of how just 15 minutes of Reiki can make a difference.

One individual told me she suffered from Fibromyalgia.  She laid upon the massage table and I noticed the temperature of her forehead.  It was hot. So I inquired, she confirmed that she was always hot.  She tried Reiki once before many years ago and felt that it helped her Fibromyalgia symptoms.  Soon after we began the reiki session, within the first 5-10 minutes, I noticed her body temperature had cooled significantly.  I asked her if she had noticed the same and once again she replied, “yes”.  We were both pleasantly surprised.

The next person I worked with had never received Reiki and this was a brand new experience.  I could sense her apprehension.  I began to work starting up at her head and worked my way down towards her feet.  Usually while I work on someone they get a profound state of peace and ease.  Some times they begin to slumber.  She was not falling into this state and I remember thinking to myself, maybe this isn’t working for her… then as she rose from the table she gave me some beautiful feedback about her first experience.  She said as I touched her feet she felt her heart open up and her chest expand. A beautiful experience for her first Reiki session.

There were many other experiences.  One person had a heavy heart and a was facing indecisiveness in her life, another had been told that they needed chakra balancing.   It matters not what brings you to Reiki as long as you come.
